Dear Parents

TWO MORE SLEEPS to go until the BIG DAY! Please get those pathways filled.

We are looking forward to seeing all children, parents, grandparents, family and friends for a fun-filled day on Saturday. Apart from all the fantastic prizes to be won on the raffle lists and Tombola stall, most of the other stalls will also have smaller prizes to be won. Delicious food, sweets and cold drinks will again be on sale. The actual walk will start at 9am and the day’s activities will be over by 3pm. All tickets for stall purchases and activities will be available on the day at the ticket stall (outside the staffroom). Only the food and cold drink stall will accept either cash or tickets. Raffle tickets will be sold (at R5 a ticket) on the day at the ticket stall – there are lovely prizes to be won.

Children must please remember to bring their white sponsorship cards to school on Saturday morning and report to their class teachers. Children will receive a stamp on their Lap Card for every lap completed. Honesty in this regard is very important to us. We ask that children please not try and cheat and also that parents and children not ask for more than one stamp per lap, we all can do with some healthy exercise. After completing 25 and 50 laps respectively, the children will receive a small reward. After completing all 50 laps the pupils will return to their class teacher who will calculate the total amount owing in sponsorships plus any donations. The sponsorship card will be returned to the pupil with the amount owing as well as verification of this amount signed by the class teacher. The pupils will then set about collecting all monies.

Please make sure all children are collected on time as the ground staff need to clean up. Gates will be locked at 15:15. A friendly reminder that this is a school fundraiser and that no alcohol, cooler bags or picnic bags are allowed. You are welcome to bring your camping chair, blanket and umbrella. Smoking will only be allowed in the smoking area and not on the stands or the field where the children walk. No pets will be allowed. We also ask that parents please not park in front of gates thereby blocking access to the school, the teachers parking, the soccer field and neighbouring driveways. We have arranged for car guards and hope and trust that these measures will allow for a problem free morning.

As this is our only fundraising drive to supplement the small amount we receive from the Government, we trust that we will have every family’s support. Without this money we would not be able to provide all the other additional equipment, IT services and we would not be able to maintain the high standard of education and excellent facilities our children deserve. So, bring the whole family, neighbours and friends to enjoy the day with us.

A very big ‘thank you’ to all parents and families who have been so actively involved in preparing for our big day!

31 May will be our final voucher day before the Big Walk. “R100 lucky draw”, “In the Fish Tank”, “Toss a Sponge” (depending on the weather) and “Day in the Sun” will also take place during school on this day. Children who have “Day in the Sun” vouchers may wear civvies on Friday. We will also do the lucky draw for the two Bicycles on this day. All children who have R 350 or more promised on their pathways will be part of this draw so please get those pathways filled and collect these rewards. Also don’t forget about the Disco, Early Day off School (Dolphin Dash) and Road Trip (Captain’s cruise) vouchers that will be redeemed next term.

A reminder that all children must be dressed in full winter uniform as from Monday.

A final reminder to dads! Our Foundation Phase Fathers’ Day assembly will be held on Thursday, 6 June 2019. Please remember your picnic basket and blanket. As in the past we rely on our dad’s kindness and generosity to support our given charity. This year “Charity begins at home” and we will be collecting non-perishable goods (such as various tinned food, pasta, rice, long-life milk, jam, peanut butter, soup etc.) for those families in our school and surrounding community who are struggling to feed their children. Your donations will be greatly appreciated.

On Monday our U12 and U13 teams played against Freewaypark Primary. The results were as follows: U12 Martin won 4 – 0 and U13 Martin lost 1 – 2.

Yours faithfully
